Overview

On 26 November 2025, a catastrophic fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong. The blaze rapidly engulfed the residential block, resulting in at least 159 confirmed deaths — one of the most devastating residential fires in Hong Kong’s recent history. Many families lost loved ones, their homes, and their sense of safety overnight, and there remains an urgent need for post-fire relief and support. In response to this tragedy, classical musicians from the Hong Kong community in the UK are coming together to host a fundraising concert in support of the affected families, hoping to offer solidarity and practical help during this difficult time.

Attendance

On the day of the concert, there were 49 audience members physically present at the venue, while the total number of ticket purchases was 67. This means that many supporters chose to take part through online ticket purchases, even if they were unable to attend in person. Their generosity and care made this fundraising event possible. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who supported this concert in different ways.

Looking Ahead

During the preparation process, many Hong Kong musicians based in the UK, as well as local musicians, expressed a strong interest in taking part in this fundraising initiative. Unfortunately, due to the very tight timeline, they were unable to join this concert. Their encouragement and willingness to help were deeply felt. One musician even suggested organising a larger-scale charity concert to continue supporting Hong Kong fire relief efforts.

We are currently considering hosting another fundraising concert in central London in mid-January. Further details will be shared via this website and our social media platforms once confirmed.

Why This Concert

We believe deeply in the healing power of music. Many Hongkongers in the UK have family or friends directly affected by the tragedy, and there is a deep sense of shared sorrow within our community.

At the same time, we also hope to offer practical help during this difficult period through fundraising. Many survivors have lost loved ones, their homes, and their sense of safety overnight. Rebuilding their lives — physically, emotionally, and mentally — is a long and painful journey, and we hope that our support can make a difference.

Through this concert, we hope to offer:

  • a space for emotional healing, reflection, and remembrance for Hongkongers living abroad;

  • an opportunity for the UK local community to show care and solidarity;

  • a quiet space for people to be together and care for one another during this time of sorrow;

  • and a way to contribute practical assistance to families who are trying to rebuild their lives.

  • 身在海外的香港人提供一個情感釋放、反思與緬懷的空間;

  • 英國本地社群有機會表達關懷與團結;

  • 在悲痛之中,提供一個安靜相伴、彼此關心的空間;

(*Update on 8 December, 17:06 UK time: We have contacted Eventbrite to enquire whether it is possible to reduce the platform fees. They replied that our account is currently set up on the best package to meet our event’s specific needs, and that they do offer a contract-based model with discounted fees, depending on event volume and history. We are requesting further written clarification on whether a contract model could help lower the fees. However, as our audience size has not yet reached a high volume, we remain cautious about entering into a contract. Based on the current situation, it seems unlikely that the platform fees can be reduced. For details, please see
